Mean Green Lose Late To UAB, 72-68

DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team lost 72-68 to UAB at the Super Pit Saturday night.
The Mean Green (12-10, 3-6) never trailed by more than five points in the second half but just couldn't quite get the stops late to pull off the victory over the Blazers (14-8, 5-4).
"Disappointing, because in conference play you have to defend home court and we fell short today," said North Texas head coach Daniyal Robinson. "I felt like our effort was there but we just hand a few too many empty possessions on offense and some late-game defensive possessions where we lacked discipline."
UNT was led in scoring Saturday by Je'Shawn Stevenson who poured in a game-high 21 points. It's the sophomore's ninth 20-point game of the year. Junior David Terrell Jr. added 17 points and five assists. Sophomore Reece Robinson added 10 points to go along with five rebounds.
North Texas hits the road next as they will travel to Rice on Wednesday and then UTSA on Saturday.
