HOUSTON – The UNT men's basketball team fell in double overtime at Rice Wednesday night, 86-83.

The Mean Green (12-11, 3-7) who were missing three players to injury and needed three guards to play over 40 minutes on Wednesday were able to force the Owls (10-13, 4-6) into 22 turnovers but gave up 26 offensive rebounds to Rice, which they scored 26 points on.

"I loved our guys' effort today but we just weren't sharp enough in certain areas," said UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson. "We will get some rest and continue to learn and grow from this."

North Texas was led in scoring by Cole Franklin who finished with a career high 19 points. Not far behind Franklin was Je'Shawn Stevenson and David Terrell Jr. who each scored 18 points. Terrell played all but two minutes in the 50-minute game while Franklin and Stevenson also played over 42 minutes.

The Mean Green will remain on the road as the travel to UTSA on Saturday for a 1 p.m. CT tip.
