DENTON — The UNT soccer team is back home on Sunday, to take on American Conference leader Memphis, as the Mean Green look to break through and win their first conference match and stay in the running to make the postseason tournament with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
UNT (4-6-5, 0-3-4) is coming off a 2-2 road draw at East Carolina, when the Mean Green got a second consecutive two-goal game from junior Claire Niedermeier, who now has 13 on the season and was already the reigning American Offensive Player of the Week.
The Mean Green are 0-3-1 in the all-time series with the Tigers (9-3-2, 6-0-1) with that one draw coming in the Tigers' only previous trip to Denton.
UNT is looking to build some positive momentum with three matches remaining in the regular season. Junior forward Claire Niedermeier has 13 goals in the team's 15 matches this season, while sophomore forward Payton Annis has two goals and three assists on the year, with both goals having come in conference action. Lily Cunningham leads the team with five assists.
The first 250 fans through the gates will receive a Mean Green dog hat, and fans are welcome to bring their dogs for the Pups at the Pitch match but must fill out paperwork at the marketing table before entering with their dogs.
