Mean Green Travel To Rice Wednesday

HOUSTON – The UNT men's basketball team is back in action Wednesday night as they travel to Rice to face the Owls.
The Mean Green (12-10, 3-6) and the Owls (9-13, 3-6) are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. CT from Tudor Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on KHYI 95.3 FM and on ESPN+.
Wednesday will be the 38th all-time meeting between North Texas and the Owls and the first of two matchups this season. UNT enters Wednesday's contest having won four straight over Rice and five straight at Tudor Fieldhouse. Dating back to 2018, North Texas has won 14 of the previous 16 meetings.
After Wednesday's game UNT will remain on the road as they will travel to UTSA to face the Roadrunners Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
LEADING THE OFFENSE
Je'Shawn Stevenson enters Wednesday having scored in double figures in 12 straight games. He last was held to less than 10 points on Dec. 7 versus TCU (9 points). Stevenson has scored in double figures in 20 of UNT's 22 games this year. He has scored 15+ in five straight games and in nine of the last 10 games. In the month of January, Stevenson scored 152 points. Over the last 20 seasons only four UNT players have scored more points in the month of January: Kendrick Davis, Jason Edwards, Jeremy Combs and Tylor Perry.
20 ASSISTS AWAY
UNT point guard David Terrell Jr. enters Wednesday just 20 assists away from a single season career high. He had a career high 126 assists last season at UTEP.
SEASON LOW
UNT had a season low six turnovers on Saturday versus UAB.
BEATING TEAMS IN THE PAINT
UNT has matched or outscored each of its last 11 opponents in the paint. On the year, UNT has matched or outscored 19 of its 22 opponents this season in the paint.
