Mean Green Defense Clamps Down To Beat UAB on Road, 62-58

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The UNT men's basketball team held UAB to no field goals in the final five minutes of the game as they beat UAB on the road Sunday afternoon, 62-58.

The Mean Green (17-13, 8-9) were led in scoring Sunday by junior David Terrell Jr. who finished with a game-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds and had three steals in the win. Terrell had just two points at the half as the Blazers (18-11, 9-7) led by seven at the break.

"Our backs were against the wall and our guys responded," said North Texas head coach Daniyal Robinson. "I'm super proud of this group. A dominate second half."

Up 59-58 with 20 seconds to go in the game, junior Cole Franklin sank a clutch 3-pointer that sealed the victory. Franklin finished with nine points on five shots. His clutch 3-pointer with 20 seconds to go was his third of the day, a career high for the DeSoto native.

Sophomore Reece Robinson added 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. He was scoreless at the half. Junior Buddy Hammer Jr. came off the bench and grabbed eight rebounds, seven of which came in the second half.

UNT returns to the Super Pit Wednesday for the regular season finale as they host Rice at 7 p.m. CT.
