Women's Golf Places Fourth, Chanthapanya Comes In Second

TUCSON, Arizona – Led by senior Malisone Chanthapanya's runner-up individual performance, the UNT women's golf team wrapped up the 2026 MountainView Collegiate on Sunday with a fourth-place finish in the 16-team field.
The Mean Green were stellar throughout the three-round three-day tournament at the Preserve Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona. They shot an 859 (-5) this weekend. Its second lowest score of the year.
Chanthapanya paced North Texas and the 87-player field throughout the tournament. The Forth Worth native shot a 208 (-8) for her second-place finish and was just one stroke off the tournament champion. It's her second lowest three-round score of her career.
She opened the tournament on Friday with a 67 (-5) in the first round and stayed near the top of the player leaderboard from there on out. Over the 54 holes of the tournament, Chanthapanya had just four total bogeys.
This is the second time this year Chanthapanya has finished runner-up in a tournament. She also came in second in the Jim West Challenge in October.
In addition to Chanthapanya, junior Bouquet Subsomboon also helped carry the Mean Green. She shot a 215 (-1) over the three rounds and came in a tie for 17th place.
Freshman Marin Fujiyasu had a tough end to the tournament but helped positioned UNT well early as she shot a 71 (-1) in the first round and had her Mean Green team in second place after Friday. This was Fujiyasu's third straight tournament where she she shot a 71 or better in at least one round.
Next up for North Texas is a trip to Ardmore, Oklahoma on April 10 for the Bruzzy Challenge versus Murray State for the Mean Green's final tune-up before the American Conference Championship.
