Brooksville, Florida – The UNT women's golf team is at Southern Hills Golf Club to take on the American Conference Championship starting Monday.
The Mean Green are aiming to win their fourth conference championship in the last six seasons.
North Texas enters this year's conference championship as the three seed based off national rankings. However, the Mean Green who are ranked nationally No. 61 are just nine spots off the league leader Tulsa who is ranked No. 52. UNT has been one of the league's three highest ranked teams all year and tied Tulsa at the Sam Golden Invitational in September as the tournament runner-up.
The Event: Southern Hills Golf Club will play as a par 72 at 6,289 yards. Split tee times will begin on Monday at 8 a.m. CT. The field will be re-paired for both day two and day three based on the previous round's scoring, with split tee times off holes one and 10.
The Field: All 11 American Conference programs make the championship: No. 52 Tulsa, No. 60 South Florida, No. 61 North Texas, No. 82 East Carolina, No. 85 UTSA, No. 92 Charlotte, No. 111 Florida Atlantic, No. 116 Tulane, No. 162 Memphis, No. 165 Wichita State, No. 216 UAB
Representing UNT: Representing North Texas at the conference championship will be seniors Mason Lewis, Malisone Chanthapanta and Mallorie Luitwieler. Junior Bouquet Subsomboon and freshman Marin Fujiyasu
Results: All live results can be found on Scoreboard Powered by clipped. Post round recaps will be posted to MeanGreenSports.com. Live coverage of the third and final round will air on ESPN+ at noon CT on Wednesday.
Akers Says: "The team looks solid heading into conference this week. The confidence level should be high as our last two starts were impressive. The course is softer and greens are slower than previous years. The key is minimizing mistakes to a bogey and taking advantage of the par fives. We have multiple players that could win individually. It should be a fun week."
