Weekend Overview
- Baylor holds a 26-12-1 advantage in the all-time series against the Mean Green, including wins in 23 of their last 24 meetings, dating back to 1984. UNT's lone victory during that stretch came on Sept. 18, 2012, with a three-set sweep at the UNT Volleyball Center. The two programs have not met since the 2022 season.
- North Texas went 11-3-1 throughout the first 15 matchups against Baylor. Their original meeting on October 1, 1976, was UNT's fifth contest ever as a program.
- Florida defeated UNT 3-0 in their only meeting back on Sept. 20, 2024. That match was played in Gainesville and also marks UNT's most recent contest against a ranked opponent, as the Gators held the nation's No. 16 ranking at the time.
- North Texas opened the 2026 season with a three-match sweep at the ACU Invitational last weekend, defeating CSU Bakersfield, Lamar and tournament host Abilene Christian each by a score of 3-1.
- With the trio of wins, the Mean Green have now started 3-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
- Led by a stout defense, UNT sits atop the American Conference and ranks top 30 in the nation with a .114 opponent hitting percentage. It currently holds top-30 national spots in team digs (15th, 198) and team blocks (28th, 32.0) as well.
- Alessandra Romo collected 52 digs over the weekend on her way to American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. She completed Friday's season opener with a career-high 20 digs before recording 23 more against Lamar.
- Jahniya Jackson was crucial to the offensive attack with a team-best 42 kills while Addison Achilles also contributed 23 kills and 18.0 total blocks. They were both named to the All-Tournament Team alongside Romo.
- A win over Baylor or Florida this weekend would mark the program's first against a ranked team. The Mean Green have previously battled a ranked opponent 45 times.
- This weekend's swing is just the sixth time UNT has played a ranked team in back-to-back matches. The most recent occurrence was in September 2022 when the Mean Green consecutively faced No. 14 Baylor and No. 18 Washington.
