Volleyball Drops First Match of Season at No. 20 Baylor

WACO, Texas – The UNT volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the 2026 season on Thursday, falling 3-0 (20-25, 13-25, 26-28) to No. 20 Baylor at the Ferrell Center.
"Baylor is a great team. They are where we want to go and what we push for," head coach Dave Fleming said. "I loved the fight our team showed in set three. We started to find a way. I'm looking forward to another opportunity Sunday in our home opener against Florida."
North Texas (3-1) held its ground for most of the night as it battled deep into the first and third sets, but a .138 hitting percentage and eight service errors were ultimately too much to overcome. Although UNT recorded eight blocks at the net, Baylor (4-0) was able to gain a deciding edge with 44 kills and a .252 hitting percentage.
Lillian Croshaw paced the Mean Green offense with nine kills, while Loredana Fouonji contributed five of her own alongside a match-high six blocks. Setters Sidney Soria and Olivia Branum both reached double-digit assists for the fourth straight match at 14 and 10 apiece.
UNT faces 17th-ranked Florida Sunday at the Super Pit in its first home contest of the season. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
