DENTON – Sophomore forward Payton Annis scored her second goal of the season – and second in the last three matches – but Temple answered almost immediately and the teams played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at John Hedlund Field at Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium.

The Mean Green (4-4-3, 0-1-2) were celebrating Senior Day and Alumni Day, but it was the underclassman who found the back of the net in the 31st minute on a breakaway that she was able to bury in the bottom left of the net.

Temple (7-3-1, 1-1-1) answered about 90 seconds later on a goal in the 32nd minute and the teams played to a stalemate from that point, though the Mean Green outshot Temple 11-3 in the second half and 18-12 for the match.

UNT honored seniors Sarah Margaret Seabrook (captain), Lily Cunningham (captain), Alexis Miller, Mya Mitchell, Emma Thurston, Mia Bernard (captain), Georgia Guenther and Anna Bewley prior to the match before recognizing dozens of alumni who came to be a part of the final alumni day celebration under head coach John Hedlund, who is in his 32nd and final season at the helm of the program he started in 1995.

"It was an incredible feeling today seeing so many of my former players back for Alumni Day," Hedlund said. "These players mean the world to me — they helped me build this program from the ground up. So many great memories, unbelievable times, and a ton of championships together. It was truly a special day, with very special players."

UNT will now hit the road again to face UAB on Thursday night at 7 p.m., before they will have a week off and return to Denton to host FAU on Oct. 8.
