Lewis Caralla

Lewis Caralla begins his first season as the director of strength and conditioning for the North Texas football program.Ā
Prior to coming to North Texas, Caralla spent three seasons as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Michigan. He joined the Michigan football program after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Mississippi State (2011) and Georgia Tech (2010-11). In addition to assisting with the football program at Georgia Tech, Caralla also served as the head strength and conditioning coach for men's golf.
Before working with Georgia Tech, Caralla was a graduate assistant strength coach at Mississippi State (2009-10), where he assisted with football and the men's and women's tennis and basketball teams.Ā
Caralla's experience also includes stops as an intern at the University of Virginia (2008) and South Florida (2007). Caralla earned his bachelor's degree in wellness and corporate fitness from Defiance College (Defiance, Ohio), where he was a two-time all-conference selection at running back. He also was a two-time academic all-conference choice.Ā
Caralla received his master's degree in kinesiology from Mississippi State. A native of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Caralla and his wife, the former Lori Marshall, have one son, Marshall Paul.
