Katie Clark was hired as an assistant coach for UNT softball on August 19, 2024.
Clark (2018-20) is a UNT softball alumna where she played center field and was named an all-conference selection in 2018 and 2019. She became the first former Mean Green player to join DeLong’s coaching staff since his arrival in Denton.
She won Conference USA Newcomer of the Year honors in 2018 after she began her collegiate career at Stephen F. Austin. Despite being honored as a member of the 2020 Preseason All-CUSA team, her career ended on March 13, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clark helped the Mean Green capture its first conference championship in 2019 and set a then single-season best mark of 35 wins, including a program high 19 victories in conference play.
As a junior, she set the single-season program record with a .404 batting average which led CUSA and ranked top 50 in the nation. Clark also currently holds the UNT record for career batting average with a .384 mark and ranks top-10 in on-base percentage (.419), slugging percentage (.551), triples (6) and stolen bases (38).
Prior to her return to North Texas, Clark worked as director of player development with Texas Unity Softball and coached its 14U team.
A native of Katy, Texas, Clark was a three-year letter winner at Katy High School where she led the Tigers to the 2015 6A State Championship.
Clark earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas in May 2020.
