Luiz Lima is entering his first year as the assistant coach of the North Texas volleyball team. Lima comes to Denton after serving as the assistant coach at Kentucky Christian University – an NAIA school – in 2019.

Before 2019, Lima was a volunteer coach for the Mean Green during 2017 and 2018. In addition to volunteering for head coach Andrew Palileo, Lima coached ages 12-18 with Palileo’s junior volleyball club – North Point Volleyball Club. Throughout the past year, Lima has remained an essential part of the club.

Prior to North Texas, Lima spent 10 years as a head coach with professional clubs in his home country of Brazil. Lima began coaching volleyball at 18 years old and quickly rose the ranks as one of the best club coaches in the Brazilian club circuit. Â

During his last four years in Brazil, Lima led Curitibano Club to a top three national ranking. He helped the club to 33 first place finishes in his time with Curitibano and garnered Coach of the Year honors in 2016.

As a reward for his efforts, Lima was hired as the head coach of the Paranese Volleyball Federation U18 team, which summoned the 12 best players from the state of Paraná. In his one year with the Paranese Volleyball Federation, Lima led the team to the 2016 National Championship.
