Kellen Coleman is in his second year in the University of North Texas Athletics Communications office, where he serves as the Assistant Director of Digital Content.
Coleman oversees the maintenance and content development on the MeanGreenSports.com, the official UNT athletics website, as well as multiple subsidiary websites. He coordinates the department's social media strategy, working closely with the @MeanGreenSports and @MeanGreenFB accounts as well as @MeanGreenTFXC as the primary communications contact for Mean Green Track & Field.
Coleman came to Denton on November 8, 2021, after spending the previous nine years in the Baylor Athletics Communications department. At Baylor, he served numerous roles, primarily the maintenance and content development on the official Baylor athletics website, BaylorBears.com, as well as multiple subsidiary websites.
Prior to Baylor, Coleman served as the Sports Information Director at LeTourneau University. There, he was the primary media contact for all 13 varsity sports. He was in charge of administering the school's athletic website as well as the athletic department's Facebook and Twitter pages. Coleman was responsible for coordinating all media activities for home events, as well as producing media guides and game programs for the YellowJackets.
Before his time at LeTourneau, Coleman was the Director of Communications for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) from July 2009 through June 2012. At the MIAA, Coleman administered the conference's website, including leading the efforts for site redesigns in 2009 and again in 2012. He worked with institutional media relations personnel and was responsible for coordinating all media activities for championship events as well as football and basketball media day activities. He coordinated the voting process for student-athletes of the week, all-conference selections, and preseason coaches' polls in all sports. Coleman also produced, designed and edited all league publications.
Coleman went to the MIAA from the University of Kansas, where he worked as the Media Relations Assistant for 2008-09. At Kansas, Coleman was the primary contact for men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field in addition to publicizing KU's 18 varsity sports. He received four College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) publications awards for his work designing Kansas' media guides. The KU men's basketball media guide, which Coleman designed, co-wrote and edited, received "Best in Nation" and "Best in District" accolades for Division A men's basketball guides. His track & field guide also won "Best in Nation" honors for Division A women's track & field guides, while his cross country guide finished third in the nation, (Division A).
Coleman graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of arts in journalism (public relations emphasis) in the spring of 2008. At OU, he spent three and a half years in the school's athletics media relations office as a student assistant, including serving as the primary contact for Oklahoma women's golf for the 2007-08 season. He designed, wrote and edited the 2007-08 women's golf media guide (voted second in the nation by CoSIDA), coordinated OU's home tournament, wrote press releases, coordinated interviews and designed tournament notes for the women's golf team.
Coleman and his wife, Kaitlyn, reside in Denton, Texas. He has two sons; Cade and Jaxon.
