Wayne Rideout was a member of North Texas track and field's relay team known as “The Flying Twins,” which consisted of two sets of twin brothers: Wayne and Blaine Rideout, and Elmer and Delmer Brown.
In 1938, the Flying Twins set a world record in the mile-and-seven-eights medley relay at the Millrose games at Madison Square Garden in New York.
After he graduated from North Texas in 1940, Wayne was an athletic trainer for more than 30 years at various Texas high schools, and was elected to the Helms Foundation National Hall of Fame as a track coach and to the National Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame.
The Rideouts were elected to the NAIA Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1955.
