DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team will host Louisiana on Wednesday in a public exhibition at the Super Pit.
The game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. and is free admission.
Wednesday will be the first opportunity for Mean Green fans to see new UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson and a North Texas team that features 12 newcomers. Robinson takes over a Mean Green program that won 27 games last year and has won 120 games over the last five years, which is the 15th most in the nation.
Robinson comes to North Texas from Cleveland State where he was the Vikings' head coach for three seasons from 2022-25 and led them to three straight 20-win seasons, including a 23-win season last year, the program's most single season wins since 2011.
Robinson has built a deep gritty UNT roster for this season that is expected to maintain a similar defensive identity.
In Wednesday's exhibition North Texas will face a former conference mate in Louisiana. Both programs competed in the Sun Belt together for a decade. Wednesday will be the first time UNT and UL have met in a regular season, postseason or exhibition game since 2013 when they both were in the SBC.
The Ragin Cajuns are now under the leadership of first-year head coach Quannas White who for the last eight years served on staff at Houston and for the last two seasons was its associate head coach.
Following Wednesday's exhibition, the Mean Green will officially begin the Robinson era with their season opener on Nov. 3 versus New Mexico Highlands.
