LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS (9/29/02) - Junior forward Marilyn Marin notched her third hat trick of the season as the North Texas (8-1, 2-0) soccer team defeated Arkansas-Little Rock 6-3 in Sun Belt Conference action.
The Mean Green are now off to their second best start in school history and have won four straight games. Marin now has a Conference leading 13 goals in just nine games on the season.
North Texas fell behind in the first minute of play but freshman Jessica Hennessey tied up the score in the 3rd minute with a goal 15 yards out. North Texas took a 2-1 lead when freshman walk-on Danielle Smith scored in the 30th minute. The Lady Trojans tied the score up before heading into the half.
That's when Marin took over scoring the next two goals, one on a penalty kick, to give the Mean Green a 4-2 lead. Marin added another goal in the 65th minute. Alyssa Carrier closed out the scoring for North Texas with a goal in the 67th minute. The Mean Green continue their four-game road trip next Friday with a showdown against the nationally ranked Denver Pioneers.
