Mean Green Battle Lady Toppers To 1-1 Tie

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (10/17/03)- In a battle for supremacy atop the Sun Belt Conference standings the North Texas women's soccer team and Western Kentucky battled to a 1-1 tie. The tie leaves both teams atop the conference standing with identical records of 3-0-1
The Mean Green (10-3-1, 3-0-1), playing in their second straight overtime match, scored the first goal of the match when sophomore defender Andrea Marak scored her first goal of the season in the 31st minute giving North Texas a 1-0 lead. Western Kentucky (8-4-1, 3-0-1) tied the match up just seven minutes later on a goal by Betsy Duncan as the teams remained tied at the intermission.
North Texas outshot Western Kentucky in the second half 6-4 but neither team was able to score. In the overtime frames both teams had one shot on goal before settling for the 1-1 tie.
Senior forward Marilyn Marin fired seven shots and six shots on goal but was held scoreless for only the third time this season. The Mean Green remain unbeaten in their last four games as the head Sunday's road match with Middle Tennessee.
