Mean Green Basketball Season To Kick Off With

DENTON (10/7/03) - The North Texas men's basketball team will host "Mid-Day Madness" at the Super Pit on Saturday, Oct. 18 prior to the Mean Green's homecoming football game against Utah State.
The basketball festivities will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Super Pit with dunk and three-point contests followed by an intersquad scrimmage. October 18 is the first official day NCAA Division I basketball teams can practice.
"Our players are extremely excited about our upcoming season," said North Texas head coach Johnny Jones. "We hope that Mean Green fans will come out prior to the football game to share with us in our first day of practice and get a glimpse of the 2003-04 squad in our annual scrimmage to kick off the season."
North Texas fans will get a chance to watch the third-year head coach and entire team as the Mean Green prepares for the upcoming 2003-04 season.
The Mean Green will host Northwestern Oklahoma State in its season opener on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., but has two exhibition games scheduled for Nov. 6 and Nov. 14. Both exhibition games are doubleheaders with the women's team and are set to tip at 8 p.m.
