Whitaker Wraps Up Competition At NCAA Zone D Diving Championships

AUSTIN (3/15/03) - Melissa Whitaker (San Antonio Churchill HS), senior diver on the North Texas women’s swimming and diving team, took 23rd place in both the three-meter and one-meter diving events at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships.
Whitaker scored a 177.35 in the one-meter event, while posting a 190.00 on the three-meter springboard. Whitaker posted school-record scores of 346.20 in the one-meter and 433.95 in the three-meter earlier this season. Whitaker’s appearance at the Zone D Diving Championships was her second trip to the competition in the last three years.
Houston’s Yulia Pakhalina won both events at the competition, taking the one-meter with a score of 686.00 (prelims and finals) and the three-meter with a score of 605.30 (prelims and finals).
