ATLANTA — UNT senior diver Kamryn Wong wrapped up her collegiate career on Friday at the NCAA Championships with a 16th-place finish in the 3-meter springboard to score points for the Mean Green and earn an NCAA All-American Second Team nod.
Wong's score of 306.90 secured a points finish, as she became the first student-athlete in program history to score points at the NCAA Championship as the second in program history to qualify for the meet and first diver. She is the first All-American in program history and was also the top finisher not from a power conference.
"I couldn't be more proud of Kam and the way she competed this week," UNT associate head coach/diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan said. "She dove with confidence and composure on both boards. On 1-meter, finishing 30th with her best score and placement — and as the top mid-major finisher — was a great start. Then to come back on 3-meter and place 16th, score points, and again lead the mid-majors is an incredible accomplishment.
"Earning Second-Team All-American honors and becoming the first point scorer in program history is truly special. It speaks to the work she's put in, the resilience she's shown all season, and her ability to rise to the moment on the biggest stage. I'm so proud of her and what she's done for this program. It's been amazing to coach her these last few years and see her grow. I'm incredibly proud of her and happy to see her end on such a high note."
On Thursday, Wong finished 30th in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 249.90 and was the top finisher not from a power conference in that event, as well.
While she was the first diver in UNT program history to compete at the NCAA Championship, it was her second time at the meet after she competed in both events as a sophomore at Missouri, but she improved upon her finish in both events this week.
With her points finish on Friday, Wong put a bow on her decorated collegiate career, the last two of which were spent in Denton. She leaves as the most accomplished student-athlete in program history. She is the program record holder in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events, won seven American Conference Championship medals, including four golds, and was named the American's Most Outstanding Diver in 2025 after sweeping the boards and leading UNT to gold in the Team Diving event, which the Mean Green successfully defended just last month in Greensboro, North Carolina.
"It's hard to put into words what this sport has meant to me," Wong said. "To finish my career here and represent UNT at NCAAs is really special. I'm proud of how I competed and grateful for everything this journey has given me — the challenges, the growth, and the people along the way."
