Mean Green Tennis Wraps Up Fall Schedule With Solid Outing

HOUSTON (11/7/04) -- The North Texas women’s tennis team wrapped up play at its final fall tournament of the season in good form on Sunday, winning 15 singles matches and seven doubles at the three-day Cougar Fall Classic.
North Texas was led by Ingrid Stockinger, Ashley Sammis and Aziza Aba Butain, who each finished with a 3-1 record. Sammis was the Blue Flight runner-up, while Stockinger and Aba Butain both won all their matches in the consolation brackets of their respective flights.
Six of the seven North Texas players that competed in singles won at least two matches and finished with at least a .500 record. Stockinger finished the fall season with a team-best 11 victories, while six Mean Green players recorded at least five wins.
Katherine Harris and Krysta Lee paced the Mean Green in doubles play, finishing the tournament with a 3-1 record to win the Red Doubles consolation bracket championship. Two of the remaining three doubles teams that competed for NT finished with at least a .500 record.
For the entire fall season, North Texas used 12 different doubles pairings in four tournaments. Eight of those teams won at least two matches, including Harris and Lee with a team-best four wins.
North Texas will host Texas State on Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in its first match of the spring season.
