Oklahoma State Hands Mean Green 5-2 Setback

DENTON ( 3/20/04 ) The North Texas women’s tennis team (11-8) scored two points in singles play against 69th ranked Oklahoma State , but the Cowgirls took the doubles point and held the Mean Green at bay in the remaining singles matches to claim a 5-2 victory at Goldfield Tennis Center on Saturday.
OSU was the fifth nationally ranked opponent for NT in its last seven matches.
Kelli Royer and Megan Schmulbach accounted for the Mean Green’s two singles victories, while Krysta Lee and Katherine Harris won their flight one doubles match.
Royer defeated Jana Karaskova (6-2, 6-2) in flight two and Schmulbach won flight four (6-3, 6-3) over Zana Masnic. Lee and Harris defeated Katya Kolodynska and and Karaskova by a 9-7 score.
The Mean Green narrowly missed the doubles point, falling 9-8(4) in flight three. The Cowgirls won the remaining four singles flights in straight sets.
North Texas is back in action Wednesday, Mar. 24, hosting Abilene Christian in a 2:30 p.m. match.
