Rourke Awarded Sun Belt Swimmer of the Week

DENTON (1/14/05) - Sophomore Gwen Rourke was awarded Swimmer of the Week by the Sun Belt Conference on Thursday, Jan. 13.

Rourke continues her clutch performances for the Mean Green meet after meet. This past weekend at the Sugar Bowl Invitational in New Orleans, Rourke took two first-place finishes in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. In the 100, Rourke swam a time of 1:08.16. With not even her fastest time of the season (1:07.67), Rourke dominated the event over swimmers from Tulane and North Florida. In the 200 breaststroke, Rourke swam a time of 2:28.65. She holds the school record in both of these events.

The NT women's swimming and diving team will compete this Friday, Jan. 14 in Denton at the NT Student Recreation Center against the Houston Cougars and the SMU Mustangs. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
