Mean Green Tennis Sweeps Saturday Matches To Remain Undefeated

DENTON (2/5/05) -- The North Texas women’s tennis team defeated UT-San Antonio 6-1 and shutout North Central Texas College on Saturday to complete a perfect weekend at Goldfield Tennis Center and run its record to 3-0 on the young the season.
The Mean Green dropped just one singles match against the Roadrunners in its first match and followed the win up with a dominating performance against the Lions, winning all six singles matches in straight sets and two of the three doubles matches by at least six points.
NT won its first three matches for the first time since the 2001-02 season when it started 4-0 before dropping its first match. With the 3-0 start, North Texas head coach Dawna Prevette is now just one win shy of her 50th career victory.
Krysta Lee, Kelli Royer, Katherine Harris and Aziza Aba Butain all won both their singles matches, while Ingrid Stockinger and Megan Schumlbach each went 1-0. Royer, Harris and Aba Butain all ran their season record to 3-0 and Schmulbach improved to 2-0.
In doubles play, Harris/Krysta Lee, Royer/Holly Lee and Schmulbach/Aba Butain all went 2-0. Harris/Lee and Schmulbach/Aba Butain all remained perfect on the season with 3-0 records.
North Texas hosts Tyer JC on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. before playing five consecutive matches on the road.
