North Texas Opens Play At The Carter Plantation Intercollegiate

SPRINGFIELD, La. (3/14/05) The North Texas men’s golf team battled blustery conditions at the first day of the Carter Plantation Invitational and is tied for ninth after two rounds of play.

North Texas is tied for ninth place with Sam Houston State after shooting a 321 in the first round and a 309 in the second round. Louisiana-Monroe leads after the first day of competition with a 602.

“We could have played a lot better today than we did,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “We just need to get back to making the shots that we need to and start gaining some confidence back that we are missing right now”.

Freshman Raul Lemus paced the Mean Green in the first day with an opening round of 4-over par 76 followed by a second round of 80. Lemus is tied for 25^th with a two-round score of 158.

Freshman Anthony Broussard and Jason Lindgren are two shots behind after firing two-round scores of 158. Lindgren had a team-best round of 1-over par 73 in the second round and is tied for 31^st heading into the final day. Andreas Kali shot a second round score of 77 and sits with a score of 160 after the first two rounds.

The final round of the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate begins tomorrow at 7:30 with a shotgun start.
