Mean Green Tennis Drops One-Point Decision At Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (4/3/05) The North Texas women’s tennis team (11-8) played its final road match of the regular season Sunday, falling 4-3 to Louisiana-Lafayette (6-7) in a Sun Belt Conference contest at Cajun Courts.

North Texas fell by just one point for the first time this season, while it has won three matches decided by a 4-3 score. NT also fell to 2-3 in Sun Belt play with two conference matches left on its schedule before the league tournament set for April 22-24.

The Mean Green was swept in doubles play, failing to pick up the matches first point for just the seventh time this year. NT’s Kelli Royer, Katherine Harris and Aziza Aba Butain all picked up wins in singles action.

Royer won her third straight match in flight two, while Harris won her team-best 18^th match. Aba Butain has now won 8-of-10 matches in spring play.

North Texas will close out the regular season with four straight home matches, starting with Sun Belt foe New Mexico State on Friday at 3 p.m. at Goldfield Tennis Center.
