Mean Green Cruise In SBC Opener 4-0 Over Troy

DENTON, Tex. (9/30/05) In dominating fashion the North Texas women’s soccer team opened up Sun Belt Conference play with a 4-0 victory over Troy to extend their unbeaten streak to eight straight games at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

The trio of Heather Hutyra, Brittany Cleveland, and Kelli Lunsford combined for three goals, four assists, and 10 points to pace the Mean Green offensive attack. The Mean Green scored three goals in the first half in a span of just seven minutes of play.
Hutyra then got into the act herself and notched her 10th goal of the year to make it 3-0 as she buried a shot from 15 yards out in the 19th minute.
Lunsford added her second goal of the season in the 50th minute on a penalty kick. Hutyra also had a penalty kick in the 54th minute but was denied her second goal of the night. Goalkeeper Kandice Ellis made three saves on the night to pick up her third shutout of the season.
