Garcia-Meitin also made her presence felt in the 100-yard backstroke and the 50-yard freestyle. The sophomore posted wins in both events and swam the fourth fastest time in school history in the backstroke with a mark of 59.18.
Olesen and Jamie Hosner both notched the fifth fastest times in school history in their top events. Olesen, a freshman, won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.42, while the junior took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:43.49.
Christina Hammervold brought home the program’s third fastest all-time mark in the 400-yard individual medley. The sophomore’s time of 4:40.55 was good for second place.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Laura Swan, Tudose, Ashley Walker and Devon Dlouhy swam a 1:40.71, the fifth fastest time in
Newcomer Besmara Cruz, who joined the team in its last meet with SMU, won two events for the Mean Green. The freshman finished the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.28 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.05.
The Mean Green return to action at 6 p.m. on February 1 against TCU and Incarnate Word in
