Hutyra and Lunsford Named All-Region

DENTON, Tex. (1/3/06) North Texas sophomore forward Heather Hutyra was named to the Central Region second-team and freshman midfielder Kelli Lunsford was named to the Central Region all-freshman team by Soccer Buzz magazine. The selection of Hutyra and Lunsford to the all-region team marks the ninth consecutive season that
Hutyra was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after racking up a league-high 20 goals and 47 points. Hutyra finished seventh in the nation in goals and 11th in points per game.
Her 20 goals were the sixth best in school history for a single season while her 47 points tied for the fifth most in a single season.
Hutyra was also named to the first-team all conference for the second consecutive season.
Lunsford was named to the Central Region all-freshman team, making her the fourth player that
Lunsford was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after scoring seven points, dishing out seven assists, and compiling 21 points.
The two players were key components to the Mean Green's second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and Sun Belt Conference Championship.
