Mean Green Tennis Heads To Regional Tournament

DENTON (10/18/06) Mean Green tennis is heading to Fort Worth this weekend for the women’s Fall ITA Regional Championships which will be held at TCU.

Four girls from North Texas will be competing in the qualifying draw in singles, and two doubles teams will be competing in the main draw.

Head Coach Sujay Lama is looking forward to the competition this weekend due to the many powerhouse teams from the area playing in the tournament.

“This is the biggest event of the fall for us and for the region,” said Lama.

The winner and runner-up in singles will go to play in the Nationals competition in Columbus, Ohio, as will only the winner of doubles play.

“This is by far the toughest event we’ll play in the fall,” said Lama. “The kids on the team really have the goal to play in the regional tournament. We’ve been getting better day-by-day. This tournament will give us a chance to see how we’ve improved in the past few weeks.”
