Tennis Has Good Showing In Regionals

FORT WORTH, TX (10/20/06) The Mean Green displayed promising performances today at the ITA Tennis Regional Tournament hosted by TCU. Idalina Franca and Megan Schmulbach competed in the main round in singles play and Sammie Moreton and Aziza Aba Butain took on national power Baylor in the main draw of doubles.
After an unrelenting, three and a half-hour, singles match,
Schmulbach battled Emilijia Arnaudovska from
Aba Butain and Moreton had a good showing in doubles but were defeated 8-6 by Baylor, who is ranked number five in the nation.
Assistant Tennis coach Jeff Maren is thrilled with the tennis team’s performance at the tournament.
“They put forth a whole lot of effort against good competition,” said Maren. “They played tough teams all across the board. Baylor is one of the top teams in the nation and they pushed them to the limit. It was a high level of tennis and whether they won or lost,
