Schmulbach And Franca Win Title In Houston

HOUSTON (11/5/06) Megan Schmulbach and Idalina Franca brought home the title in flight B doubles play at the Houston Quad Tournament on Sunday while Aziza Aba Butain won the consolation flight B singles match.
"This was a great finish to the fall season," said assistant coach Jeff Maren. "The players performed well today despite battling the rain and tough opponents."
Schmulbach and Franca defeated Vicky Simpson and Sonja Nikolic of the University of Houston (8-2) winning the title in flight B doubles. This was the team’s first title of the fall season.
Aba Butain had a rough start in day one of the tournament falling to Air Force, but had a comeback today as she defeated Erlyn Rudico from Air Force 6-1, 6-2 for the consolation title.
"The girls played absolutely incredible," said Maren "We played some of the best tennis of the fall season in our last tournament and finished strong.
