Watson, Wooden Power Mean Green Past Stephen F. Austin

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (12/06/06) The inside-outside punch of Calvin Watson and Keith Wooden was enough to power the North Texas basketball team past Stephen F. Austin 76-70 on Wednesday at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The duo combined for 36 points in the win and snapped the Lumberjacks’ (4-4) seven game home win streak. North Texas (6-2) improves to 3-1 on the road this season, and will head to
“I thought we came out focused and it was great to see us bounce back against such a tough opponent,” said head coach Johnny Jones. “Keith and Calvin were tremendous, and I thought as a whole we played really well together and made good decisions.”
Watson led the charge for the Mean Green, pouring in 21 points on 7-11 shooting. The senior got off to a hot start with 21 first-half points. Watson also hit a season-high four from beyond the arc, extending his streak of games with a 3-pointer to 17.
Wooden wasn’t far behind, scoring 15 points to go with a pair of blocks. The junior entered the game with 13 total points on the road this season.
Point guard Ben Bell helped to put the nail in the coffin for NT, hitting three free throws in the final minute.
The Mean Green shot a season high 65.9 percent from the floor and hit 6-10 three-point shots.
