SAN ANTONIO (2/12/06) -- The North Texas women’s tennis team (3-4) had a two-match winning streak snapped with a 6-1 setback against UT-San Antonio (3-2) on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Mean Green was swept in doubles action and Sara Giles picked up its only victory in singles action, defeating Barbara Mooney in straight sets in the fifth flight. Giles won her second straight match and picked up her fourth singles victory of the spring season, the most of any player on the team.
Two of the three doubles matches were decided by just two points and the Mean Green took three singles matches into a third and deciding set as the Mean Green was competitive throughout the contest.
Not only will North Texas play its first home match of the season on Thursday when it hosts Arkansas-Little Rock at 2 p.m., it will also face its first Sun Belt Conference opponent of the season and play its first match ever at the new Waranch Tennis Pavilion.
