Mean Green Tennis Wins 4-3 Thriller Over Louisiana-Monroe

DENTON (2/26/06) - The North Texas women’s tennis team (4-6) snapped a three-match skid with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at the Waranch Tennis Pavilion.

With the match tied 3-3, freshman Lynley Wasson clinched the victory for the Mean Green with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Noella Leon in the second flight.

North Texas won two of the three doubles matches to get the first point before Louisiana-Monroe stormed back to win three of the first five singles matches completed. The Mean Green’s Megan Schmulbach and Sara Giles won flights five and six, respectively.

North Texas returns to action Friday when it starts a six-match road swing with an 11 a.m. contest against Alabama-Birmingham in Denver, Colorado.
