DENTON, Tex. (11/15/07) North Texas men’s golf coach Jim Bob Jackson has announced the signing of standout golfer Ben Hargis to a National Letter of Intent. Hargis, from Amarillo, played in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 2007 and was named the Panhandle Golfer of the Year in 2006.

We are very excited about being able to sign Ben,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “He has had a great high school career and we like what he’s going to bring to the team”.

He is a four-year letterwinner at Amarillo High School and was a state qualifier in 2005. Hargis was a Region I Class 5A qualifier in 2006 and a regional tournament medalist in 2005.

He has been a member of the Sandies golf team that has won three consecutive district championships from 2005-2007.
