Denton (3-1-07) The North Texas tennis team (0-8) hosts New Mexico (5-6) State Friday, March 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Waranch Tennis Complex.
“The improvements we have made in our last three matches have been very encouraging,” said head coach Sujay Lama. “Our kids continue to work hard and come to practice with a great attitude. The opportunity to play another match at home against New Mexico State is exciting. We are looking forward to battle and give it all we have.”
The team won its first doubles point of the season against Texas State University when Aziza Aba Butain and MeganSchmulbach defeated Giraldo and Chafitz 8-5, and Idalina Franca teamed up with Sara Giles to defeat Muller and Gulida 9-8.
Also against Texas State, Hollie Carras teamed up with Emi Itabashi picked up a 9-7 win against UT-Arlington. This marked the first newcomer win of the season.
New Mexico State fell 4-3 to UT-San Antonio last weekend during a home match. The Aggies picked up wins at the No.2 and No.3 positions to take the doubles team point, but were not strong in their singles action.
