Tennis Plays In Spring Break Trip To CA

San Francisco, CA (3/20/07) - The North Texas tennis team (0-13) fell 7-0 on Sunday, March 18 against Santa Clara and was defeated 5-1 by San Francisco today at Golden Gate Park.
The team did not play doubles today against San Francisco due to bad weather.
"So far on this spring break trip we have really played good tennis," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We have competed extremely well. I'm really proud of this group of ladies. They continue to keep fighting and rebounding from tough matches."
Idalina Franca, who had been on a two-set winning streak for three consecutive matches broke that streak on Sunday when she fell 6-0, 7-6 to Casey Knutson of Santa Clara in the No. 1 singles spot. Today, Franca become the first North Texas player to win a match on this trip when she defeated Emma Taylor of San Francisco 6-0. 6-1.
"This trip given us chance to bond and have a little fun," said Lama. "We went to the beach yesterday and took a short hike in the mountains today. It's been a great way to relax and stay focused on the matches we are playing."
The Mean Green play St. Mary's College tomorrow, March 21, in Moraga, CA at 3 p.m.
