Soccer Receiving Votes In Preseason Regional Poll

DENTON, Tex. On the eve of workouts beginning for the 2007 season, the North Texas women’s soccer team has once again received some early recognition. Soccer Buzz Magazine has unveiled is preseason national and regional rankings and the Mean Green is receiving votes in the Central Region.

The Mean Green has been ranked or receiving votes in the Soccer Buzz Magazine regional poll in 11 of the past 12 years.

Along with North Texas, fellow Sun Belt rival Middle Tennessee is receiving votes while defending conference champion Denver is ranked seventh in the preseason central region poll.

The Central Region is composed of 69 teams and is the deepest of the six regions throughout the nation. Of the top 30 teams in the country, six are ranked from the Central region.

Led by all-region players Heather Hutyra and Kendall Juett North Texas is aiming for its third conference title in the last four seasons.

North Texas begins practice tomorrow morning in preparation for its season opener on August 31 against cross-town rival TWU. The Mean Green plays its annual alumni game on August 25 at 7 p.m. at the North Texas Soccer Field.
