Movin' Mavs Next Hurdle For Mean Green Tennis Team

ARLINGTON, Texas (1/30/08) The North Texas tennis squad is off to a hot start this season, and looks to keep that momentum going today at UT-Arlington.

The Mean Green (1-1) can match its win total from last season in just its third outing with a victory over the Mavericks (0-0) today. The dual match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.

Last year, UT-Arlington knocked off the Mean Green 6-1 at the Waranch Tennis Complex, in what turned out to be a 2-19 season for NT. Revamped and recharged, North Texas will look to return the favor to the Mavericks today.

North Texas has proven especially strong in doubles play so far this year. NT has won the doubles point in both matches so far, and is 5-1 overall. The teams of Catalina Cruz & Rachel Wilhelm and Idalina Franca & Narine Kazarova are both 2-0 in the young season.

Kazarova and Franca have also carried that success into singles play. Both are undefeated in singles action this year, and the team overall boasts an 8-4 mark.

North Texas is coming off its finest fall season in school history. The team picked up individual wins over Ohio State, Kentucky, LSU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor, among many others.
