Mean Green Tennis Continues Impressive Play

HOUSTON, Texas (10/18/08) - The dominance continued for the North Texas tennis team on day two of the 2008 Holiday Inn Astrodome Classic in Houston on Saturday. The Mean Green won five out of seven singles matches and five of six doubles matches on the day.
Mean Green head coach Sujay Lama showed his excitement in describing the team's play on Saturday.
"This is as good a performance as I've seen since being here at North Texas," said Lama. "This was a defining day in our progress as a team and shows everybody what's in store for the future."

The Mean Green sophomore talked about the marathon match with the players giving everything they had.
"It was tough mentally and physically," said Kazarova. "The match was close from beginning to end. I just stayed focused and kept pushing myself more and more to finish the match."

The doubles results were no different as a couple of North Texas teams won in the semis and the finals.
The team of Ranganathan and Irina-Alexandra Paraschiv defeated UT-Arlington's Jagosova and Hadvigerova in the finals (8-6). Rachel Wilhelm and Amy Joubert won their finals match (8-4) over another UTA team of Matovicova and Negreano.
North Texas trys to cap off the weekend with another great performance as the tournament completes its final day on Sunday.
