Day Two Recap
FORT WORTH, Texas (10/25/08) - The North Texas tennis team had another admirable day at the ITA Southwest Regionals in Ft. Worth. The doubles team of Irina Paraschiv and Madura Ranganathan advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw after defeating Texas A&M on Saturday.
Mean Green head coach Sujay Lama talked about the the successful match.
"I thought we competed very well against a good school," said Lama. "We pulled out another tough victory showing the passion we need to have out on the court."
It was a battle against A&M's No.8 seeded team of Davidson/Frank, but North Texas' Paraschiv and Ranganathan came back to win 9-7. This just one day after knocking off Baylor's 10th seeded team on Friday.
The other North Texas doubles team of Ashley Akin abd Shannon MacKenzie beat Texas' team of Leyden/Wiegand 8-7.
Day four begins on Sunday morning in Ft. Worth.
