Ranganathan Grabs Sun Belt Tennis Player Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (3/26/08) North Texas freshman Madura Ranganathan was named the Sun Belt Tennis Player of the Week after knocking off her second ranked opponent last week.
Ranganathan picked up her first SBC weekly award, as well as the first for second-year coach Sujay Lama, by taking out No. 91 Liset Brito of Florida International, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
“We are really thrilled for Madura,” Lama said. “Her talent is unquestionable, and she is now matching that with desire and focus. The sky is the limit for this young lady.”
The freshman also topped opponents from Florida Atlantic and Marquette in straight sets. The three wins over spring break improved her singles record to 10-6 on the season.
Ranganathan is a team-best 3-1 against opponents from the Sun Belt Conference this year, and will have a chance to better that mark versus
