Josh White Selected To Another All-America Squad

DENTON, Texas (4/1/08) Add another exploit to Josh White’s resume. The North Texas basketball phenom was selected to the CollegeInsider.com Freshmen Mid-Major All-America team on Tuesday.
White was named to the CollegeHoops.net Second Team Mid-Major All-Freshman squad on Monday.
White was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after leading the Mean Green with 13.9 points per game in 2007-08. An assassin from downtown, White broke the school record for 3-point accuracy with a 45.8 percent clip.
“This is a tremendous honor for Josh, and a well deserved one after an outstanding freshman season,” said North Texas head coach Johnny Jones. “Josh has come in and made an immediate impact for us this season, and will be looked upon as a leader in the coming seasons.”
White was the only player from the Sun Belt and one of only two players from the state of Texas to make either the CollegeHoops.net or CollegeInsider.com teams. The publication’s staffs, as well as Division I coaches and NBA scouts were involved in the selection processes.
The Baton Rouge, La., native was just the sixth freshman in North Texas history to record 400 points as a freshman, and shared Sun Belt Second Team All-Conference honors with teammate Collin Dennis.
White led the Mean Green with an 84.8 percent mark from the free throw line, and his 44 assists rank second on the team.
