DENTON, Texas (4/11/08) The North Texas tennis team will take on Sun Belt Conference rival Arkansas State this Saturday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The Mean Green is looking for their first win against ASU since 2005. Before making its way to Denton, the Lady Indians (11-8) will play UTA Friday afternoon. The Mean Green has already defeated UTA 7-0 earlier this season.
This will be the last match for both teams before heading into the Sun Belt Conference tournament that begins next weekend. North Texas is currently 4-1 against Sun Belt opponents, while the Lady Indians are 2-5. Both teams will be looking to improve their mark at Saturday’s match.
“We have to be at our best because we know Arkansas State is a formidable opponent,” said head tennis coach Sujay Lama. “Just like us, they are looking to head into conference championships with a positive momentum.”
The Mean Green will honor senior Idalina Franca during Saturday’s match against Arkansas State. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
