DENTON, Texas (10/6/09) - The North Texas men's basketball team will be without the services of forward Kedrick Hogans for the 2009-10 season due to injury.
The junior will require surgery to repair a shoulder injury and will take a redshirt season to recuperate, giving Hogans two years of eligibility remaining.
"Kedrick Hogans was a huge part of our success over the last two seasons," said North Texas head coach Johnny Jones. "He will be missed, but we look forward to his return the following year."
Hogans averaged 4.5 points per game on 53.7 percent shooting last season, and has developed a reputation as a staunch lane defender. He has registered 48 career blocks which already ranks 10th in NT history. His 53.2 career field-goal percentage also ranks 10th.
Hogans led the Mean Green with 29 blocks in 2008-09, including a career-best four blocks at Big XII foe Oklahoma State. The New Orleans native was at his best at Florida International, racking up 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
North Texas opens the season at the Super Pit on Nov. 13 against Cameron. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
