S&D: Green beats White 147-115 In Intrasquad

DENTON, Texas- North Texas Swimming & Diving kicked off with the annual Green and White intrasquad meet on Friday afternoon. The Green team nipped the White team by a score of 147-115.
The White team's Hiliary Riedmann topped two of her best marks from last season with a 1:55.55 to win the 200 yard freestyle and a 53.80 to win the 100 yard freestyle. Carleigh Kutac bested her mark from last year with a 2:11.02 to win the 200 yard backstroke for the Green team.
Newcomers for the Mean Green also shined during the Green-White Meet. Freshman Natalie Jakopin won the 100 yard backstroke for the White team with a time of 1:00.37. Sophomore transfer Joanna Wozniak won the 200 yard breaststroke for the Green team with a time of 2:28.19.
Drama ensued in the final swimming event of the day, the 200 yard freestyle relay. The Green team's quartet of Dawn Richerson, Carleigh Kutac, Alexis Widacki and Angela Dworschack edged the White team's Natalie Jakopin, Seabre Pope, Stephanie Bernier and Catia Weickgenant by :00.07 seconds, winning the even with a time of 1:40.22
Mary Beth Geeze won the diving portion of the competition for the Green team with a score of 153.90.
North Texas Swimming & Diving returns to action Saturday morning at 11 a.m. for the Alumni Meet. The Mean Green will hit the pool in Mansfield next Friday, October 8th for the North Texas Relays.
