Swimming Finishes Fourth At North Texas Relays

MANSFIELD, Texas- North Texas swam to a 4th place finish at the North Texas Relays on Friday afternoon in Mansfield. The Mean Green had strong performances from the 3x100 yard backstroke relay and 3x100 yard breaststroke relay team.
"Today we were okay. I wouldn't say we were great, we were not bad, we just okay," said Head Coach Joe Dykstra. "Rosa Gentile continues to impress, she was awesome today. She did five races today, which is very tough, and she was awesome in all five of them."
North Texas' relay team of Natalie Jakopin, Leanne Hill and Rosa Gentile combined for a time of 2:56.15 to take second in the 3x100 yard backstroke relay, finishing second to Arkansas. In the next event, North Texas' Danae Welch, Joanna Wozniak and Rosita Bado finished 3rd behind SMU's and TCU's relay teams.
Rosa Gentile swam a team-high five events, and posted a season-best 57.14 100-yard butterfly split leading off the 3x100 fly relay.
SMU won the event with a score of 118. Arkansas finished second with 100, followed by TCU at 86. North Texas finished fourth with 68, and Tulane came in fifth place with a score of 48.
North Texas returns to the pool Saturday, October 9 at 9 a.m. when they take on Arkansas and Tulane in a dual meet at the Pohl Recreation Center in Denton.
