DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis head coach Sujay Lama announced the arrival of volunteer assistant coach Natalie Drew Friday morning.
Drew, who was a member of Mean Green tennis from 1999-2003, will assist Lama and associate head coach Jeff Maren in the development of the team both on and off the court.
"Natalie will be a great addition to our staff," Lama said. "Her experience of having been a student athlete at North Texas will be invaluable for the ladies in our team. She has tremendous passion for college tennis and most importantly she is a terrific human being who truly cares about our tennis program."
Drew, who competed at North Texas under her maiden name Clore, played the 2002-03 spring season as a part of the No. 1 doubles duo with Bettina Rettenmaier and finished the year 4-5.
"I am thrilled to be the volunteer coach for the Mean Green Women's Tennis Team," said Drew. "Since I graduated in 2004, I've wanted a way to give back to North Texas tennis and to the university. This is a unique opportunity to reconnect and support the ladies and to grow in tennis coaching. I loved playing tennis for North Texas and I will love cheering these ladies on to the Sun Belt Conference Championship."
Drew will begin immediately as Mean Green tennis returns to action at the Wilson/ITA Texas Regional Oct. 21 in Ft. Worth.
